This week has been a busy one for the federal government. With another peaceful transfer of power in the history books, the executive branch is buckling down and continuing to make headway on the post-inauguration transition. For this week’s DorobekINSIDER, we wanted to bring you a list of transition articles to add some clarity to this ambiguous time.
As of Friday, the Senate has confirmed two of Trump’s Cabinet picks. Retired Generals James Mattis and John Kelly were sworn in as Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security, respectively. Hearings for the rest of the Cabinet will resume this week, with the Administration hoping to get all prospective members confirmed and sworn in in the coming weeks.
In his first few days in office, President Trump has already signed a handful of executive actions including instructions to federal agencies to weaken Obamacare, re-instating a ban on international abortion counselling, freezing federal government hiring, and withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Starting a new job anywhere can be hard but having people in your corner offering advice can make those first few weeks of transition a lot easier. In order to help President Trump out in the IT arena, the Federal CIO Council recently released a report advising the Administration to issue a multi-year strategic vision for federal IT. This would help agencies stay focused on the Administration’s highest priorities as the transition continues.
