UK Uses Twitter for Real-Time Snow Mapping

So this is pretty awesome. The UK has produced a real-time snow map application. This app searches Twitter for real-time snow reports and displays them on the map. A map shows up on the screen with “snow clusters” which determine how much snow is in a given area.

Users tweet the hashtag #uksnow, their location (postcode, town name or geotag your tweet), andrate the snow that is falling out of ten:
7/10 flakes or more = Blizzard!
5/10 or 6/10 = Steady snowfall
3/10 or 4/10 = Light snowfall
1/10 or 2/10 = A few flakes
0/10 – No snow
You can also include the depth of snow (cm or inches), attach a photo and add a description to your tweet.

Technology never fails to amaze me! Thanks for the info Shannon. I wonder, does any where else beside the UK do this with Twitter?
