It was just announced that Steven VanRoekel is the next Federal CIO replacing Vivek Kundra (NYTimes andAlex Howard piece)
Van Roekel spent the last couple years at FCC working on the FCC.gov reboot and a number of high profile #gov20 initiative and before then worked as a Microsoft executive.
I’ve been a big fan of the FCC work (5 reasons FCC.gov is hottest project in open gov) and I’m excited to see what Steven VanRoekel brings to the Federal CIO.
One piece that I’m particularly excited is that Mr. VanRoekel has been able to bring together extremely high-caliber teams at FCC and USAID (Dan McSwain to Haley Van Dyck to lots of others) which will be essential in his new role.
