We’ve all been watching the devastating fires rip through the west. So what can you do to prepare?
In 2011, over 1300 homes were destroyed in Bastrop County, Texas due to wildfires.
The fellows at Code for America developed an easy-to-use application that brings together a variety of checklists and fire tools, and gives them to you in a manageable, timely, and actionable form.
It’s called Prepared.ly.
Emily Wright Moore is a fellow at Code for America. She told Chris Dorobek on the DorobekINSIDER program how it works.
“Prepard.ly is an app that offers ways for the user to access their proximity to risk. The risk level will change based on a bunch of factors like weather,” said Moore.
Reach: “With the app you can send a direct message to the fire department. You can also text yourself reminders of activities that you need to accomplish like cleaning up the yard to prevent wildfires,” said Moore.
