GovLoop is hiring for its 2018 summer round of fellowships!
What Do We Want?
We are looking for bright, hard-working current or recent students (an undergraduate degree, or working towards one, is all that is required) to join us starting Monday, May 21. These are paid internships in Downtown DC. The positions entail a 4-month commitment with the opportunity to extend to 8 months.
Love organizing and putting events together? Or are you more of the artistic type? We’re looking for those interested in events and graphic design. Position descriptions can be found below. We are accepting applications until Friday, April 27 so apply or send to those you know!
What is GovLoop?
GovLoop is the leading knowledge network for government. Our mission is simple: connect government to improve government. We serve a community of more than 270,000 government leaders by helping them to foster collaboration, learn from each other, solve problems and advance in their government careers. Throughout GovLoop’s history, more than 80 fellows have worked as integral contributors to core projects including our research reports, online and in-person training events, digital marketing campaigns, GovLoop Academy, the Mentors Program, web and graphic design and much more. Past fellows have gone onto jobs at the State Department, Office of Management and Budget, National Geographic and Deloitte among others.
How Do You Apply?

What You Get To Do:
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of in-person and online events from a content perspective
- Work closely with government speakers to prepare them for events. Which includes handling speaker bios, content creation, slides and prep calls
- Work to grow and maintain our speaker database
- Attend relevant events to recruit new speakers and gain industry knowledge
- Support the Events Speaker Coordinator in day-to-day operations
- Provide support for our marquee event, the Next Generation of Government Training Summit
What We Need In You:
- Dynamic go-getter who can handle a range of tasks and is comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Past customer service experience preferred
- Desire to learn more about overall speaker recruitment and preparation
What You Get To Do:
- Create the layout and design of GovLoop written products
- Assist our event department in designing collateral for events including posters, presentations, web banners and agendas
- Design branded marketing materials and items for print and web (t-shirts, business cards, flyers, stickers, etc.)
- Work with a small, collaborative design team on brainstorming and executing new creative products and ideas
What We Need In You:
- Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite is a must, with a focus on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- A solid foundation in graphic design demonstrated through compelling use of design principles and elements
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks of varying complexities, meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Up-to-date portfolio required
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with AfterEffects, FinalCutProX and/or Adobe Premiere
- Experience conducting and editing audio (i.e. radio interviews or vocal)
- Experience working with HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript, as well as experience designing for WordPress or other CMS platforms
- Photography or videography skills (please include in portfolio if applicable)
